The HOPE foundation school in Champahati in the outskirts of Kolkata, West Bengal, was started in September 2008. Champahati, located 23 kilometers from Kolkata, is a developing town with a population of about 100,000. Majority of the population live in impoverished conditions without basic infrastructure, healthcare or education. Child labor is common and many children work as rag-pickers or in the nearby factories and houses.
The school is presently providing education and Mid-day Meals to 110 students.
