Safety of Staff and Volunteers

All HOPE foundation staff and volunteers are given training and guidelines on personal protection as well as protection of people they serve.

Following are the basic set of guidelines:

  1. Instructions for proper mask usage – how to don, use, remove, and dispose of masks – are shared with all workers and volunteers. Masks are not a replacement for social distancing.

  2. Distance – Staff, and volunteers are required to maintain a minimum of 6 feet from every other person, whenever possible. If the minimum distance is practical, they are required to wear appropriate PPEs.

  3. Hand Hygiene – All are required to wash hands with soap and water, when available, or use 60% or more alcohol-based hand sanitizers when soap and water are not available. If the hands are visibly dirty, washing with water and soap is essential.

  4. Cross-contamination – Staff and volunteers are given training on how to avoid cross-contamination even while using protective hand-gloves. They are also given training on how to handle personal items avoiding cross-contamination. Strict instructions are given on the dangers of touching one’s face, especially the mouth, nose, or eyes.
